Non-Park Recreation at WDW – Part 1: The All-Star Resorts

Some people – especially those who don’t do the actual planning part of a Disney World vacation – are completely unaware of all that Disney has to offer in the way of recreation. I honestly think you could spend more than a week at Disney World and never set foot in the parks with all they have to offer! This is part 1 of a series, so we’ll only be covering a small part of the recreation opportunities available at Disney World here.

First, we’ll take a look at the recreation available at the All-Star Value Resorts. (Please note that although you may use the recreation offerings at any resort, pool hopping is the exception and is not allowed. You are only allowed to use the pool at the resort in which you are staying.)

All-Star Movies

No vacation in a warm climate would be complete without swimming, and the All-Star Movies Resort has some fantastic options. The Fantasia Pool is modeled after the Disney film Fantasia, of course, and is home to a Sorcerer Mickey Fountain. There is also the Duck Pond pool modeled after the Mighty Ducks hockey rink, and a smaller, “chilly” swimming area for little ones.

Also at the Fantasia pool at night are Movies Under the Stars – on select nights, the Resort will show a full-length Disney movie!

There is a paved jogging trail that winds it’s way around all 3 All-Star resorts – maps are available from the Concierge in the resort Lobby. (Saratoga Springs Resort jogging trail pictured.)

Many of the resorts have playgrounds easily accessible for those guests that are visiting with young children. (Please note that adult supervision is required.)

Finally, enjoy some pinball and video games in the Reel Fun Arcade near the food court.

All-Star Music

Like All-Star Movies, All-Star Music has two pools – the Calypso pool features a statue of the Three Caballeros, and the Piano pool features a statue of Ariel from the Little Mermaid.

Also like All-Star Movies, All-Star Music has outdoor movies at night, a playground and arcade. All of the All-Stars resorts share the jogging trail…which is a great way to see all three resorts!

All-Star Sports

Once again, All-Star Sports shares the jogging trail with the other two All-Star resorts, and also has the evening movies, playground and arcade. Here’s some pictures of the Grand Slam pool that features Goofy.
